Abstract

THE STUDY OF HEMOGLOBIN LEVELS ON FARMERS IN EXPOSURE OF PESTICIDE AT PANJI ANOM VILLAGE, SUKASADA, BULELENG ABSTRACT Background: Low levels of hemoglobin prevent circulating erythrocytes or hemoglobin from performing their essential role of supplying oxygen to body’s tissues, which results in anemia. World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 1–5 million cases of pesticide poisoning among agricultural workers occur annually, with a death rate of up to 220,000 fatalities. Purpose: This study was to describe the hemoglobin levels of farmers in exposure of pesticide in Panji Anom, Sukasada Buleleng. Method: This was a descriptive study with purposive sampling technique conducted in 35 farmers related to pesticide exposure in Panji Anom area. The Point Care Off Testing (POCT) was utilized to monitor hemoglobin levels.The instrument for checking hemoglobin levels in this study used the Point Care Off method Testing (POCT). Results: The results of the study on hemoglobin examination showed that most of the farmers had normal hemoglobin levels, namely 19 people (54%), low hemoglobin levels of 11 people (32%) and high hemoglobin levels of 5 people (14%). Conclusion: Based on the results of the examination of hemoglobin levels, most of the farmers had normal hemoglobin levels. Keywords: farmer, hemoglobin, pesticide GAMBARAN KADAR HEMOGLOBIN PADA PETANI PENGGUNA PESTISIDA DI DESA PANJI ANOM KECAMATAN SUKASADA KABUPATEN BULELENG ABSTRAK Latar belakang: Kadar hemoglobin yang rendah mencegah eritrosit atau hemoglobin yang bersirkulasi melakukan peran penting mereka dalam memasok oksigen ke jaringan tubuh, yang menyebabkan anemia. Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) memperkirakan bahwa 1–5 juta kasus keracunan pestisida di kalangan pekerja pertanian terjadi setiap tahunnya, dengan angka kematian hingga 220.000 kematian. Tujuan: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar hemoglobin petani pada pengguna pestisida di Panji Anom Kecamatan Sukasada Buleleng. Metode: Penelitian deskriptif dengan teknik purposive sampling yang dilakukan pada 35 petani terkait paparan pestisida di kawasan Panji Anom. Instrument pemeriksaan kadar hemoglobin pada penelitian ini diukur menggunakan metode Point Care Of Testing (POCT). Hasil: Hasil penelitian pada pemeriksaan hemoglobin menujukan bahwa sebagian besar petani memilki kadar hemoglobin normal yaitu sebanyak 19 orang (54%), kadar hemoglobin rendah sebanyak 11 orang (32%) dan kadar hemoglobin tinggi sebanyak 5 orang (14%). Kesimpulan: Berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan kadar hemoglobin sebagian besar petani memiliki kadar hemoglobin yang normal. Kata Kunci : Hemoglobin, Petani, Pestisida
