Abstract
IDENTIFICATION OF Toxocara Cati EGGS IN THE FAECES OF DOMESTIC PET CATS (Felis Catus) IN SOUTH DENPASAR DISTRICT ABSTRACT Toxocariasis is a disease caused by worms of the genus nematode. Toxocara cati is a parasite found in cats. The worm Toxocara cati is not only dangerous for the host, but is also reported to infect humans, because it is a zoonotic disease. Humans can contract toxocariasis by ingesting the infective eggs contained in feces and contaminated soil. The aim of this study was to identify Toxocara cati eggs in the faeces of domestic cats in South Denpasar District. Examination was carried out using the native or direct method using 2% Eosin solution on 43 samples. The results showed that 38 cats (88.4%) had good maintenance management, 5 cats (11.6%) had poor maintenance management, 22 cats (51.2%) were male, 21 cats (48.8%) ) was female, the identification results obtained 4 samples (9.3%) were positive for Toxocara cati eggs, 4 samples of cat feces with poor maintenance management (80%) were positive for Toxocara cati eggs, 3 samples of cat feces were male (13, 7%) were positive for Toxocara cati eggs, and 1 sample of female cat feces (4.8%) was positive for Toxocara cati eggs. The conclusion is that only 4 out of 43 cats (9.3%) tested positive for Toxocara cati eggs. This shows that the management of cat maintenance in South Denpasar District is quite good. Toxocara cati merupakan parasit yang ditemukan di kucing. Cacing Toxocara cati tidak saja berbahaya bagi host, tetapi juga dilaporkan dapat menginfeksi manusia,karena termasuk penyakit zoonosis. Manusia dapat tertular toksokariasis melalui termakannya telur infektif yang terdapat dalam feses dan tanah yang terkontaminasi. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi telur Toxocara cati pada feses kucing peliharaan domestik di Kecamatan Denpasar Selatan. Pemeriksaan dilakukan dengan metode natif atau langsung menggunakan larutan Eosin 2% terhadap 43 sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 38 kucing (88,4%) memiliki manajemen pemeliharaan yang baik, 5 kucing (11,6%) memiliki manajemen pemeliharan yang buruk, 22 kucing (51,2%) berjenis kelamin jantan, 21 kucing (48,8%) berjenis kelamin betina, hasil identifikasi diperoleh 4 sampel (9,3%) positif terdapat telur Toxocara cati, 4 sampel feses kucing dengan manjemen pemeliharaan buruk (80%) positif telur Toxocara cati, 3 sampel feses kucing yang berjenis kelamin jantan (13,7%) positif telur Toxocara cati, dan 1 sampel feses kucing berjenis kelamin betina (4,8%) positif telur Toxocara cati. Kesimpulannya ialah hanya 4 dari 43 kucing (9,3 %) yang positif telur Toxocara cati hal ini menunjukkan bahwa manajemen pemeliharaan kucing di Kecamatan Denpasar Selatan cukup baik.
