Abstract
TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN PATIENTS WITH HYPERTENSION AT THE HEALTH CENTER RENDANG KARANGASEM ABSTRACT High cholesterol levels will trigger a person to develop hypertension, because the higher the cholesterol content in the blood, the heart will be increasingly forced to work harder to pump blood throughout the body. A condition where cholesterol levels in the blood exceed the normal limit of 200 mg/dl is called hypercholesterolemia. Hypercholesterolemia is a condition of increased blood fat fraction. This study aims to determine total cholesterol levels in hypertensive patients at the Puskesmas Rendang Karangasem. This research is a type of descriptive research with a quantitative descriptive research design. The population is hypertension sufferers aged ≥ 30 years, with a sample size of 43 people, selected using a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling method. Examination of total cholesterol levels was carried out using the POCT method. The results showed that 36 respondents (84%) had high total cholesterol levels and 7 respondents (16%) had normal total cholesterol levels. The conclusion of the study was that high total cholesterol levels occurred in respondents aged 60-74 years, male sex, had a diet that often consumed foods with high fat content, had smoking habits, and frequently consumed alcoholic beverages. Keywords: total cholesterol, hypertension KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA PENDERITA HIPERTENSI DI PUSKESMAS RENDANG KARANGASEM ABSTRAK Kadar kolesterol yang tinggi akan memicu seseorang terkena penyakit hipertensi, karena semakin tinggi kandungan kolesterol didalam darah, maka jantung akan semakin dipaksa bekerja lebih keras untuk memompa darah ke seluruh tubuh. Suatu kondisi kadar kolesterol dalam darah melebihi batas normal 200 mg/dl disebut hiperkolesterolemia. Hiperkolesterolemia adalah suatu kondisi peningkatan fraksi lemak darah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar kolesterol total pada penderita hipertensi di Puskesmas Rendang Karangasem. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif dengan desain penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Populasi adalah para penderita hipertensi yang berusia ≥ 30 tahun, dengan besar sampel 43 orang, dipilih menggunakan teknik non probability sampling dengan metode purposive sampling. Pemeriksaan kadar kolesterol total dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode POCT. Hasil penelitian didapatkan 36 responden (84%) memiliki kadar kolesterol total yang tinggi dan 7 responden (16%) memiliki kadar kolesterol total yang normal. Kesimpulan penelitian yaitu kadar kolesterol total tinggi terjadi pada responden umur 60-74 tahun, jenis kelamin laki-laki, memiliki pola makan sering mengkonsumsi makanan dengan kadar lemak tinggi, memiliki kebiasaan merokok, dan sering mengkonsumsi minuman beralkohol.
