Abstract
Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by blood sugar levels that exceed normal limits. Currently, we are entering the aging population period, where there is an increase in life expectancy followed by an increase in the number of elderly people. DM in the elderly is caused by genetic factors, age, obesity and physical activity. It increases gradually due to the aging process, genetic factors, BMI and lack of physical activity, especially in the elderly in Pendem Village, Jembrana Regency in 2022. The purpose of this study is to describe the blood sugar levels among elderly in pendem village of Jembrana regency in 2022. Method: This descriptive study was conducted from May to June 2022 with a total of 40 respondents by means of non probability sampling technique. Blood glucose levels was measured by the Point Of Care Testing (POCT) method. Results: Results showed that there were 65% respondents in euglycemia level, while 35% respondents were in hyperglycemic condition. There were fewer male respondents (42.5%) than female respondents (57.5%). Most respondents had a normal body mass index (90.0%), 2.5% respondents were thin and 7.5% respondents were classified as light fat. Most respondents were classified as elderly between the ages of 60-74 years old (77.5%) and the rest were categorized as the old age between the ages of 75-90 years old (22.5%). Keywords:. Blood Glucose Level, Elderly Latar belakang Diabetes adalah penyakit menahun (kronis) berupa gangguan metabolic yang ditandai dengan kadar gula darah yang melebihi batas normal. Saat ini kita mulai memasuki periode aging population dimana terjadi peningkatan umur harapan hidup yang diikuti dengan peningkatan jumlah lansia. DM pada lansia di sebabkan oleh faktor genetik, usia, obesitas dan aktifitas fisik kemudian dengan berjalannya usia yang semakin meningkatan secara bertahap di karenakan terjadi proses menua, faktor genetik , IMT serta aktivitas fisik yang kurang. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana gambaran glukosa darah sewaktu pada lansia di Kelurahan Pendem Kabupaten Jembrana pada tahun 2022. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Mei sampai Juni 2022 dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 40 orang. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif dengan teknik non-probability sampling. Kadar glukosa darah sewaktu diukur dengan metode Point Of Care Testing (POCT). Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu dari 40 responden yang telah diteliti terdapat kadar glukosa darah sewaktu normal sebanyak 65% dari jumlah responden yang memiliki kadar glukosa darah sewaktu tinggi sebanyak 35%. Laki-laki sebanyak 42,5% lebih sedikit dibandingkan responden perempuan sebanyak 57,5%. Sebagian besar memiliki indeks massa tubuh normal sebanyak 90%, responden yang tergolong kurus ringan sebanyak 2,5% lebih sedikit dibandingkan responden yang tergolong gemuk ringan sebanyak 7,5%. Sebagian besar tergolong usia lanjut (elderly) antara usia 60-74 tahun sebanyak 77,5% dan tergolong usia tua (old) antara usia 75-90 tahun sebanyak 22,5%.
