Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS IN HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS AT UPTD PUSKESMAS SUKAWATI II Background: hypertension is a non-communicable disease with a high prevalence and is often associated with increased total cholesterol levels. High cholesterol levels can cause atherosclerosis, which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. Objective: this study aimed to describe total cholesterol levels among patients with hypertension at UPTD Puskesmas Sukawati II. Methods: this descriptive study used a purposive sampling technique involving 93 hypertensive patients. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements, and total cholesterol examination using the Point of Care Testing (POCT) method from capillary blood samples. Data were analyzed descriptively using frequency distribution and percentages. Results: most respondents had borderline total cholesterol levels, with 38 respondents (41%), followed by normal levels in 29 respondents (31%) and high levels in 26 respondents (28%). Most respondents were elderly, female, had obesity class I BMI, did not smoke, and had no family history of hypertension. Conclusion: most hypertensive patients had borderline to high total cholesterol levels. Therefore, routine examinations and the implementation of a healthy lifestyle are needed to prevent further complications Keyword: hypertension, total cholesterol, risk factor. GAMBARAN KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL PADA PENDERITA HIPERTENSI DI UPTD PUSKESMAS SUKAWATI II Latar belakang: hipertensi merupakan penyakit tidak menular dengan prevalensi tinggi yang sering disertai peningkatan kadar kolesterol total. Kadar kolesterol yang tinggi dapat menyebabkan aterosklerosis sehingga meningkatkan risiko penyakit kardiovaskular. Tujuan: penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar kolesterol total pada penderita hipertensi di UPTD Puskesmas Sukawati II. Metode: penelitian deskriptif dengan teknik purposive sampling dilakukan pada 93 penderita hipertensi. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara, kuesioner, pengukuran Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT), dan pemeriksaan kadar kolesterol total menggunakan metode Point of Care Testing (POCT) dari darah kapiler. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dalam bentuk distribusi frekuensi dan persentase. Hasil: sebagian besar responden memiliki kadar kolesterol total kategori borderline sebanyak 38 orang (41%), kategori normal 29 orang (31%), dan kategori tinggi 26 orang (28%). Mayoritas responden berusia lansia, berjenis kelamin perempuan, memiliki IMT obesitas I, tidak merokok, dan tidak memiliki riwayat keluarga hipertensi. Simpulan: sebagian besar penderita hipertensi memiliki kadar kolesterol total borderline hingga tinggi sehingga diperlukan pemeriksaan rutin dan penerapan pola hidup sehat untuk mencegah komplikasi lebih lanjut.
