Abstract

Data pola konsumsi makanan cepat saji dikumpulkan menggunakan metode Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), sedangkan status obesitas ditentukan berdasarkan indeks massa tubuh menurut umur (IMT/U). Obesity in adolescents is one of the nutritional problems that continues to increase and can be influenced by fast food consumption patterns. Fast food generally contains high amounts of energy, fat, protein, and carbohydrates, which may increase the risk of obesity when consumed excessively. This study aimed to determine the relationship between fast food consumption patterns and obesity among students at SMPK 1 Harapan Sesetan South Denpasar. This study was an observational study with a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted from January to February 2026 at SMPK 1 Harapan Sesetan South Denpasar. The sample consisted of 82 seventh-grade students selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data on fast food consumption patterns were collected using the Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ) method, while obesity status was determined based on Body Mass Index for Age (BMI-for-age). Data analysis was performed using the Rank Spearman correlation test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed that most of the respondents were not obese, totaling 62 students (75.6%), while 20 students (24.4%) were classified as obese. Most respondents consumed a high variety of fast food, totaling 47 students (57.3%). Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between energy intake and obesity (p=0.000; r=0.400), protein intake and obesity (p=0.001; r=0.346), and fat intake and obesity (p=0.001; r=0.345). However, there was no significant relationship between carbohydrate intake and obesity (p=0.056; r=0.212).
