Abstract

ABSTRACT Oral and dental health plays an important role in overall body health, but is often overlooked by some communities. Awareness of school-aged children (10-12 years old) in maintaining oral and dental health is also still relatively low, mainly due to the habit of consuming sweet foods that increase the risk of caries. The purpose of this study was to determine the picture of permanent dental caries in sixth-grade students at SDN 10 Pedungan in 2026. This research method is descriptive with a survey design using primary data in the form of direct examination results on students' teeth and secondary data in the form of student attendance. The results of this study showed that most students experienced permanent dental caries, namely 27 students (87.1%), and students who did not experience caries were only 4 students (12.9%). The total number of permanent dental caries found was 55 teeth with an average caries of 1.77. The tooth that most frequently experienced caries (mode) was tooth 46 (the first permanent molar of the right lower jaw) with 16 cases or 29.1%. The conclusion of this study is that most respondents experienced dental caries, the number of carious teeth was 55 with an average of high criteria for dental caries and the tooth that most frequently experienced dental caries was tooth 46.
