Abstract
DESCRIPTION OF TOOTHBRUSHING SKILLS AND ORAL HYGIENE STATUS AMONG FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SDN 10 PEDUNGAN IN 2026 ABSTRACT Dental and Oral health in elementary school children is still a problem that is influenced by tooth brushing skills. Brushing teeth with inappropriate techniques can cause poor oral and dental hygiene. This study aims to determine the description of tooth brushing skills and the status of oral and dental hygiene in fourth grade students of SDN 10 Pedungan in 2026. The type of research used is descriptive research with a survey design using a total population of 30 students. Data on tooth brushing skills were collected through observation, while dental and oral hygiene were collected through direct examination using the OHI-S index. The results showed that tooth brushing skills were mostly in the sufficient criteria of 14 students (47%) with an average score of 68.5 sufficient criteria. Dental and oral hygiene were mostly in the moderate criteria of 14 students (47%) with an average OHI-S of 1.63 moderate criteria. The highest average of dental and oral hygiene was with an average of 12 students (85.71%) moderate criteria at the level of tooth brushing skills sufficient criteria and the lowest at the level of tooth brushing skills criteria need guidance with an average of two students (14.29%). The conclusion of this study is that most students have adequate tooth brushing skills and moderate dental and oral hygiene. Keywords: toothbrushing skills, oral hygiene, elementary school students
