Abstract
DESCRIPTION OF SOIL TRANSMITTED HELMINTHS INFECTION IN CHILDREN AT STATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 1 PERANCAK JEMBRANA ABSTRACT Background: The prevalence of worms in Indonesia can reach 62% in environments with poor sanitation and high humidity, STH infections contribute 24% of cases, elementary school-aged children are the most vulnerable group due to activities that often come into contact with soil and low clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS). SDN 1 Perancak is located on the coast with high humidity, and the majority of the population there work as fishermen. Tropical areas with high humidity are a factor in high STH infections. Objective: To determine the infection of Soil Transmitted Helminth worm eggs in the feces of children at SDN 1 Perancak. Method: This type of research is descriptive, the total number of samples is 35 students. The sampling technique uses non-probability sampling with quota sampling. The presence of Soil Transmitted Helminth worm eggs using the native method Results: The results obtained were 2 people (6%) positive for STH worm eggs with the species Trichuris trichiura (100%). All respondents who were positive for STH worm eggs were male and had sufficient personal hygiene. Conclusion: 35 fecal samples from students showed a prevalence rate of Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) infection of 2 (6%), all of which were identified as the Trichuris trichiura species. Infection was only found in male students (7%) who came from the group with sufficient personal hygiene category (14%) of the total sample. Keywords: Soil-Transmitted Helminths, Personal Hygiene GAMBARAN INFEKSI SOIL TRANSMITTED HELMINTHS PADA ANAK SD NEGERI 1 PERANCAK JEMBRANA ABSTRAK Latar belakang: Prevelensi kecacingan di Indonesia bisa mencapai 62% pada lingkungan dengan sanitasi buruk dan kelembapan tinggi, infeksi STH menyumbang 24% kasus, anak usia Sekolah Dasar merupakan kelompok yang paling rentan karena aktivitas yang sering bersentuhan dengan tanah serta perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS) yang masih rendah. SDN 1 Perancak terletak di pesisir pantai dengan kelembaban tinggi, dan mayoritas penduduk disana bekerja sebagai nelayan. Daerah tropis dengan kelembaban tinggi merupakan faktor tingginya infeksi STH. Tujuan penelitian: untuk mengetahui infeksi telur cacing Soil Transmitted Helminth pada feses anak di SDN 1 Perancak. Metode: Jenis penelitian deskriptif, jumlah sampel total sampling yang berjumlah 35 siswa. Teknik sampling menggunakan non-probability sampling dengan quota sampling. keberadaan telur cacing Soil Transmitted Helminths menggunakan metode natif Hasil: Hasil yang didapat sebanyak 2 orang (6%) positif telur cacing STH dengan spesies Trichuris trichiura (100%). Semua responden yang positif ditemukan telur cacing STH berjenis kelamin laki-laki dan memiliki tingkat personal hygiene cukup. Simpulan: terhadap 35 sampel feses siswa menunjukkan angka prevalensi infeksi Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) sebesar 2 (6%), yang seluruhnya teridentifikasi sebagai spesies Trichuris trichiura. Infeksi hanya ditemukan pada siswa laki-laki (7%) yang berasal dari kelompok dengan personal hygiene kategori cukup (14%) dari total sampel. Kata Kunci : Soil Transmitted Helminths, Personal Hygiene
