Abstract
THE EFFECT OF MOTHER-IN-THE-WORD'S TONGUE (SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA PRAIN) LEAF CONCENTRATION ON AIR GERMS IN THE LABORATORY DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH ABSTRACT Poor indoor air quality due to microorganism contamination can trigger various respiratory health problems. The snake plant (Sansevieria trifasciata prain) is known to contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, and steroids that have the potential as natural disinfectants to reduce airborne bacterial counts. This study aims to analyze the difference in airborne bacterial counts after spraying snake plant leaf juice with varying concentrations. This study was conducted at the Environmental Health Department Laboratory. The type of research used was an experiment with a comparative design of bacterial counts before and after treatment. Data were analyzed using the One-Way ANOVA test to see the effect of different concentrations. The results showed a decrease in airborne bacterial counts at all concentration variations, with a significance value of 0.003 (p < 0.05). The 50% concentration gave the highest and relatively stable reduction of 77.88% compared to other concentrations. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of variations in the concentration of snake plant leaf juice on airborne bacterial counts in the Parasitology Laboratory. The higher the concentration used, the more effective the reduction in airborne bacterial counts tends to be. Keywords: Germ Count, Leaves, Concentration Variation PENGARUH KONSENTRASI DAUN LIDAH MERTUA (SANSEVIERIA TRIFASCIATA PRAIN) TERHADAP ANGKA KUMAN UDARA DI LABORATORIUM JURUSAN KESEHATAN LINGKUNGAN ABSTRAK Kualitas udara dalam ruangan yang buruk akibat kontaminasi mikroorganisme dapat memicu berbagai masalah kesehatan pernapasan. Tanaman lidah mertua (Sansevieria trifasciata prain) diketahui memiliki senyawa bioaktif seperti flavonoid, saponin, dan steroid yang berpotensi sebagai disinfektan alami untuk menekan angka kuman udara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan angka kuman udara setelah penyemprotan perasan daun lidah mertua dengan variasi konsentrasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Jurusan Kesehatan Lingkungan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan desain perbandingan angka kuman sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji One-Way ANOVA untuk melihat pengaruh perbedaan konsentrasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya penurunan angka kuman udara pada seluruh variasi konsentrasi, dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,003 (p < 0,05). Konsentrasi 50% memberikan hasil penurunan yang paling tinggi dan relatif stabil sebesar 77,88 % dibandingkan konsentrasi lainnya. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh mengenai variasi konsentrasi perasan daun lidah mertua terhadap angka kuman udara di Laboratorium Parasitologi. Semakin tinggi konsentrasi yang digunakan, maka efektivitas penurunan angka kuman udara cenderung meningkat. Kata Kunci: Angka Kuman, Daun, Variasi Konsentrasi.
