Abstract

DIFFERENCES IN HEMOGLOBIN LEVELS IN ACTIVE SMOKERS AND PASSIVE SMOKERS IN PEMECUTAN KELOD VILLAGE, WEST DENPASAR DISTRICT ABSTRACT Background: Smoking habits can affect hemoglobin levels because exposure to carbon monoxide from cigarette smoke can reduce the blood's ability to transport oxygen in both active smokers and passive smokers. Objective: This study was conducted to determine the differences in hemoglobin levels in active smokers and passive smokers in Pemecutan Kelod Village, West Denpasar District. Methods: This study is an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design involving 96 respondents, consisting of 48 active smokers and 48 passive smokers, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were obtained through interviews with respondents' characteristics and hemoglobin level examination using the Cyanmethemoglobin method. Data analysis used the Shapiro-Wilk test, homogeneity test (Levene Test), and Independent Sample T-test. Results: The mean hemoglobin level in active smokers was 14.3 ± 1.2 g/dL, while passive smokers had 13.5 ± 1.2 g/dL. Shapiro-Wilk test showed normal distribution in active smokers (p = 0.189) and passive smokers (p = 0.659). Homogeneity test indicated homogeneous data (p = 0.863). Independent Sample T-Test showed a significant value of 0.003 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: There was a significant difference in hemoglobin levels between active and passive smokers in Pemecutan Kelod Village, West Denpasar District. PERBEDAAN KADAR HEMOGLOBIN PADA PEROKOK AKTIF DAN PEROKOK PASIF DI DESA PEMECUTAN KELOD, KECAMATAN DENPASAR BARAT ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Kebiasaan merokok dapat memengaruhi kadar hemoglobin akibat paparan karbon monoksida dalam asap rokok yang mengurangi kemampuan darah dalam mengangkut oksigen. Paparan ini tidak hanya dialami oleh perokok aktif, tetapi juga oleh perokok pasif. Tujuan: Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kadar hemoglobin pada perokok aktif dan perokok pasif di Desa Pemecutan Kelod, Kecamatan Denpasar Barat. Metode: Jenis penelitian ini adalah analitik observasional dengan desain cross-sectional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 96 responden yang terdiri dari 48 perokok aktif dan 48 perokok pasif yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara karakteristik responden serta pemeriksaan kadar hemoglobin metode Cyanmethemoglobin. Analisis data menggunakan uji Shapiro-Wilk, uji homogenitas (Levene Test), dan Independent Sample T-Test. Hasil: Rerata kadar hemoglobin perokok aktif sebesar 14,3 ± 1,2 g/dL, sedangkan perokok pasif sebesar 13,5 ± 1,2 g/dL. Hasil uji Shapiro-Wilk menunjukkan data berdistribusi normal pada perokok aktif (p = 0,189) dan perokok pasif (p = 0,659). Uji homogenitas menunjukkan data homogen (p = 0,863). Hasil uji Independent Sample T-Test diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,003 (p < 0,05). Simpulan: Terdapat perbedaan signifikan kadar hemoglobin darah pada perokok aktif dan perokok pasif di Desa Pemecutan Kelod, Kecamatan Denpasar Barat.
