Abstract
Public Health Center (PHC) Sawan II is one of the PHC in Sawan District. 682 householders still practice open defecation. The aim of this study was to describe the association householder's characteristics with open defecation behavior on the work area of PHC Sawan II Buleleng Regency in 2020. The cross-sectional design was conducted and chi squared test with 95% confidence interval was used to analyze the nominal scale data. The result revealed 69,4% householders having lacked knowledge and 30,6% good knowledge (p-value: 0,000). There is 66,1% less attitude and 33,9% good attitude respondent (p-value: 0,000); 74,2% low income and 25,8% middle-income respondent (p-value: 0,000); 82,3% low level education and 17,7% higher level educaton respondent (p-value: 0,000). 69,4% respondent said unsupported and 30,6% had good reinforcement by public figure to closed defecation practice. Respondent practising open defecation are 71% and 29% not practising it. The conclusion was householder’s characteristics having assocation with open defecation behavior on work area of Buleleng District at PHC Sawan II in 2020. Implemention of clean and healthy behavior with closed defecation practice is suggested for community. Thus, they can maintain house’s conditions being clean and healthy constantly.
