Abstract
Anemia is defined as a low concentration of hemoglobin (Hb) in the blood. Anemia is characterized by hemoglobin levels in the blood lower than normal values. The normal hemoglobin limit for teens is adalah 12 g / dl. Most cases of anemia in Indonesia occur due to lack of consumption of iron (Fe). The impact of anemia on adolescents can result in decreased productivity such as decreased performance and susceptible to infectious diseases which result in female adolescent experiencing an increase in iron needs due to accelerated growth and menstruation. This study uses a sample of female adolescent aged 16-18 years. This study was an observational study with a cross sectional design and a total sample of 30 people. Data analysis uses cross tables which are described descriptively. The results showed that 90% of female adolescents had a level of consumption of iron and vitamin B12 in the less category, while another 10% in the category of enough to consume iron and vitamin B12. There are 30% of female adolescents with anemic status and 70% with not anemic status. As many as 95.24% of female adolescents in the category of consuming less iron and having anemia so that there is a relationship between iron and the status of anemia of young women and also there is a relationship between vitamin B12 and anemia status of young women with 90.48% of young girls consuming less vitamin B12 and having anemia. It is recommended that there be a school health program that encourages efforts to prevent and control anemia. Keywords: Anemia, Iron, Vitamin B12
