Abstract
The hospital will produce a considerable amount of waste every day. Hospital waste management is needed as part of hospital environmental sanitation activities. The purpose of this study is to investigate the management of medical waste at the Bangli General Hospital. In this study the authors used descriptive research. The observations were compared with the RI Minister of Health Decree. No. 1204 / MENKES / SK / X / 2004 concerning Hospital Environmental Health Requirements. From the observations of the management of solid medical waste obtained at the stage of sorting solid waste getting a score of 4 included in the category not eligible, the solid waste collection stage received a score of 12 included in the eligible category, the stage of transporting solid medical waste got a score of 10 included in the category of meeting requirements, the stage of disposal of solid medical waste gets a score of 6 included in the category of fulfilling the requirements and the stage of management of liquid medical waste gets a score of 8 included in the category of meeting the requirements. So that the overall medical waste management process scores 40 out of 50 question items and falls into the category of fulfilling the requirements. However, there are still shortcomings in several stages of management of solid medical waste so the hospital needs to supervise medical personnel and solid waste management officers along with the facilities used in the process of managing solid medical waste.
