Abstract
THE EFFECT OF JEMPENG FILTER THICKNESS ON REDUCE TURBIDITY AND TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLID OF RIVER WATER (Study Conducted at Banjar Angkah Gede, Subdistrict Selemadeg Barat, District Tabanan) ABSTRACT The majority of residents in Banjar Angkah Gede are dissatisfied with the condition of the river water they use, specifically its poor physical quality, which hinders the community’s ability to meet their water needs for hygiene and sanitation. This study aims to determine the effect of filter thickness on reducing turbidity and TDS levels in river water in Banjar Angkah Gede. This study employed a quasi-experimental method using a pretest-posttest control group design. A total of 48 data points were obtained from eight measurement repetitions. The instruments used were a turbidity meter and a TDS meter. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, Levene’s test, one-way ANOVA, Tukey HSD, and Games-Howell tests. The results showed that turbidity and TDS levels in the river water decreased as the thickness of the jempeng filter increased. Based on the statistical test results, a significance value of p = 0.001 was obtained, indicating that the decrease in river water turbidity and TDS is influenced by the thickness of the jempeng filter. The conclusion of this study is that the thickness of the jempeng filter influences the reduction in turbidity and TDS levels of the river water used by the residents of Banjar Angkah Gede as a source of clean water. It is recommended that the community adopt the jempeng filter as a simple water filtration medium. Keywords; jempeng, turbidity, TDS, river water PENGARUH KETEBALAN SARINGAN JEMPENG TEHADAP PENURUNAN KADAR KEKERUHAN DAN TOTAL DISSOLVE SOLID AIR SUNGAI (Studi Dilaksanakan di Banjar Angkah Gede, Kecamatan Selemadeg Barat, Kabupaten Tabanan) ABSTRAK Mayoritas warga Banjar Angkah Gede merasa tidak nyaman terhadap kondisi air sungai yang digunakan yaitu kualitas fisik air yang kurang, dimana ini menjadi kendala masyarakat dalam memenuhi kebutuhan air untuk hygiene sanitasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ketebalan saringan jempeng dalam menurunkan kadar kekeruhan dan TDS air sungai di Banjar Angkah Gede. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperiment dengan desain penelitian pretest dan postest control group desain. Jumlah data sebanyak 48 yang diperoleh dari pengulangan sebanyak delapan kali pengukuran. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa turbiditymeter dan TDS meter. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Shapiro-Wilk, Levene’s Test, One-Way ANOVA, Tukey HSD dan Games-Howell. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kadar kekeruhan dan TDS air sungai menurun seiring dengan ketebalan saringan jempeng. Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar p = 0,001 yang menunjukkan bahwa penurunan kekeruhan dan TDS air sungai dipengaruhi oleh ketebalan saringan jempeng. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah adanya pengaruh ketebalan saringan jempeng dalam menurunkan kadar kekeruhan dan TDS air sungai yang digunakan warga Banjar Angkah Gede sebagai sumber air bersih. Disarankan kepada masyarakat untuk menjadikan saringan jempeng sebagai media penyaringan air sederhana. Kata kunci; jempeng, kekeruhan, TDS, air sungai
