Abstract

UTILIZATION OF HOUSEHOLD ORGANIC WASTE INTO COMPOST AS AN EFFORT TO IMPROVE SOIL HEALTH IN CEMPAGA VILLAGE, BANGLI IN 2026 ABSTRACT Unhealthy soil conditions, characterized by low organic matter content, and low microorganism activity, can result in a decrease in land productivity. On the other hand, the increasing amount of waste is an environmental problem that needs attention. This study aims to determine the use of organic waste into compost as an effort to sanitize the soil in Cempaga Village, Bangli. The type of research used is descriptive research. With a total of 52 samples. The results of this study were the application of compost, soil conditions were dominated by the category of sufficient to poor, with soil color tending to be pale to light brown, neutral soil odor, and hard and clumpy soil texture. After the application of compost, there was an improvement in the physical quality of the soil as shown by the change in color to darker (69.2%) including the good category, the increase in the smell of the soil to be fresher (40.4%) including the good category, and the texture of the soil to be looser (50%) including the good category. As for the advice to the public, they can use household organic waste into compost, as one of the useful alternatives in reducing household organic waste. Keywords : garbage, compost, soil sanitation PEMANFAATAN SAMPAH ORGANIK RUMAH TANGGA MENJADI KOMPOS SEBAGAI UPAYA PENYEHATAN TANAH PADA KELURAHAN CEMPAGA BANGLI TAHUN 2026 ABSTRAK Kondisi tanah yang tidak sehat, ditandai dengan rendahnya kandungan bahan organik, penurunan struktur tanah, serta rendahnya aktivitas mikroorganisme, dapat mengakibatkan menurunnya produktivitas lahan. Di sisi lain, meningkatnya jumlah sampah organik rumah tangga menjadi permasalahan lingkungan yang perlu mendapat perhatian. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan sampah organik rumah tangga menjadi kompos sebagai upaya penyehatan tanah pada Kelurahan Cempaga, Bangli. Adapun jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian deskriptif. Dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 52 sampel. Hasil dari penelitian ini pemberian kompos, kondisi tanah didominasi kategori cukup hingga kurang, dengan warna tanah cenderung pucat hingga coklat muda, bau tanah netral, serta tekstur tanah yang keras dan menggumpal. Setelah pemberian kompos, terjadi peningkatan kualitas fisik tanah yang ditunjukkan oleh perubahan warna menjadi lebih gelap (69,2% ) termasuk kategori baik, peningkatan bau tanah menjadi lebih segar (40,4%) termasuk kategori baik, serta tekstur tanah menjadi lebih gembur (50%) termasuk kategori baik. Adapun saran kepada masyarakat, dapat memanfaatkan sampah organik rumah tangga menjadi kompos, sebagai salah satu alternatif yang bermanfaat dalam mengurangi sampah organik rumah tangga dan memperbaiki kualitas tanah.
