Abstract

High airborne bacterial counts in inpatient rooms may increase the risk of nosocomial infections among patients, healthcare workers, and visitors. One environmentally friendly alternative for biological control is eco enzyme produced through the fermentation of organic waste. This study aimed to determine the potential of 25% eco enzyme concentration in reducing airborne bacterial counts in inpatient rooms at UPTD Puskesmas Rendang in 2026. A quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest group design was conducted. Airborne bacterial counts were measured before and after eco enzyme application using an ultrasonic mist system. Sampling was carried out at five observation points with three repetitions using the settle plate method. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that the average airborne bacterial count decreased from 36.37 CFU/m³ before treatment to 6.984 CFU/m³ after treatment, with a reduction effectiveness of 80.79%. Statistical analysis showed a p-value of 0.001 (<0.05), indicating a significant effect of eco enzyme application on airborne bacterial counts. It was concluded that 25% eco enzyme has the potential to be an effective, environmentally friendly, and economical natural disinfectant. Future studies are recommended to identify airborne microorganisms and evaluate different eco enzyme concentrations for optimal effectiveness. Tingginya angka kuman udara pada ruang rawat inap dapat meningkatkan risiko infeksi nosokomial bagi pasien, tenaga kesehatan, maupun pengunjung. Salah satu alternatif pengendalian biologis yang ramah lingkungan adalah penggunaan eco enzyme hasil fermentasi limbah organik. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui potensi eco enzyme konsentrasi 25% dalam menurunkan angka kuman udara pada ruang pelayanan kesehatan rawat inap di UPTD Puskesmas Rendang Tahun 2026. Penelitian menggunakan desain quasi eksperimen dengan pendekatan pretest- posttest group design. Pengukuran angka kuman udara dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah pemberian eco enzyme menggunakan ultrasonic mist system. Penelitian dilakukan pada lima titik pengamatan dengan tiga kali pengulangan menggunakan metode settle plate. Analisis data menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata angka kuman udara sebelum perlakuan sebesar 36,37 CFU/m³ dan sesudah perlakuan menurun menjadi 6,984 CFU/m³ dengan efektivitas penurunan sebesar 80,79%. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan nilai p = 0,001 (<0,05), yang berarti terdapat pengaruh signifikan pengaplikasian eco enzyme terhadap penurunan angka kuman udara. Disimpulkan bahwa eco enzyme konsentrasi 25% berpotensi efektif sebagai disinfektan alami yang ramah lingkungan dan ekonomis. Penelitian selanjutnya disarankan mengidentifikasi jenis mikroorganisme udara serta menguji variasi konsentrasi eco enzyme untuk memperoleh efektivitas yang lebih optimal.
