Abstract
THE EFFECT OF FRANGIPANI LEAF EXTRACT CONCENTRATION ON THE KILLING POWER OF Aedes aegypti MOSQUITO LARVAE ABSTRACT Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito and remains a serious health problem in Indonesia, with more than 56,000 cases until May 2025. The continuous use of chemical larvicides such as temephos risks causing resistance and environmental pollution so that alternative natural larvicides are needed. This study aims to determine the effect of the concentration of frangipani leaf extract on the killing power of third instar Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae. The study used a true experiment method with a post-test only control group design. Larvae were exposed to extract concentrations of 0.16%; 0.32%; 0.64%; and 1.28% for 6 hours with 6 repetitions. The results showed that the percentage of larval mortality in the control group was 0%, while at concentrations of 0.16%; 0.32%; 0.64%; and 1.28% were 35.32%; 45.32%; respectively. 72%; and 88.68%. The One-Way ANOVA test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05), which means the concentration of frangipani leaf extract had a significant effect on the killing power of larvae, with a concentration of 1.28% having the greatest effect. It was concluded that frangipani leaf extract has the potential as an environmentally friendly natural larvicide for controlling dengue vectors. Keywords: frangipani leaf extract; Aedes aegypti; larvae killing power PENGARUH KONSENTRASI EKSTRAK DAUN KAMBOJA TERHADAP DAYA BUNUH LARVA NYAMUK Aedes aegypti ABSTRAK Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) merupakan penyakit menular yang ditularkan melalui gigitan nyamuk Aedes aegypti dan masih menjadi masalah kesehatan serius di Indonesia, dengan lebih dari 56.000 kasus hingga Mei 2025. Penggunaan larvasida kimia seperti temephos secara terus-menerus berisiko menimbulkan resistensi dan pencemaran lingkungan sehingga diperlukan alternatif larvasida alami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi ekstrak daun kamboja terhadap daya bunuh larva nyamuk Aedes aegypti instar III. Penelitian menggunakan metode true experimental dengan rancangan post test only control group design. Larva dipaparkan pada konsentrasi ekstrak 0,16%; 0,32%; 0,64%; dan 1,28% selama 6 jam dengan 6 kali pengulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persentase kematian larva pada kelompok kontrol sebesar 0%, sedangkan pada konsentrasi 0,16%; 0,32%; 0,64%; dan 1,28% berturut-turut sebesar 35,32%; 45,32%; 72%; dan 88,68%. Uji One-Way ANOVA menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (p<0,05), yang berarti konsentrasi ekstrak daun kamboja berpengaruh signifikan terhadap daya bunuh larva, dengan konsentrasi 1,28% memberikan pengaruh terbesar. Disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun kamboja berpotensi sebagai larvasida alami yang ramah lingkungan untuk pengendalian vektor DBD. Kata kunci: ekstrak daun kamboja; Aedes aegypti; daya bunuh larva
