Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PROCALCITONIN LEVELS AND NEUTROPHIL-TO-LYMPHOCYTE RATIO IN SEPSIS PATIENTS AT PROF. DR. I.G.N.G. NGOERAH GENERAL HOSPITAL DENPASAR ABSTRACT Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused by a dysregulated host response to infection and remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Biomarkers such as procalcitonin (PCT) and Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) are commonly used to evaluate systemic inflammatory responses and the severity of bacterial infections in sepsis patients. This study aimed to determine the relationship between procalcitonin levels and NLR values in sepsis patients at Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital Denpasar. This analytical observational study used a cross-sectional design involving 90 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Secondary data were obtained from medical records of sepsis patients from January to December 2025. Procalcitonin levels were measured using the Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immunoassay (CMIA) method, while NLR values were obtained from complete blood count examinations. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed a significant relationship between procalcitonin levels and NLR values with a p-value of 0.000 and a correlation coefficient of 0.665, indicating a strong positive correlation. In conclusion, higher procalcitonin levels were associated with higher NLR values in sepsis patients. Keywords: Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio, Procalcitonin, Sepsis. HUBUNGAN KADAR PROCALCITONIN DENGAN NILAI NEUTROPHIL-TO-LYMPHOCYTE RATIO PADA PASIEN SEPSIS DI RSUP PROF. DR. I.G.N.G. NGOERAH DENPASAR ABSTRAK Sepsis merupakan kondisi yang mengancam jiwa akibat respons tubuh yang tidak teratur terhadap infeksi dan masih menjadi penyebab utama morbiditas serta mortalitas di dunia. Biomarker seperti procalcitonin (PCT) dan Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) banyak digunakan untuk menilai respons inflamasi sistemik dan tingkat keparahan infeksi bakteri pada pasien sepsis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kadar procalcitonin dengan nilai NLR pada pasien sepsis di RSUP Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah Denpasar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional analitik dengan desain cross sectional pada 90 responden yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data yang digunakan merupakan data sekunder yang diperoleh dari rekam medis pasien sepsis periode Januari hingga Desember 2025. Pemeriksaan kadar procalcitonin dilakukan menggunakan metode Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immunoassay (CMIA), sedangkan nilai NLR diperoleh dari pemeriksaan darah lengkap. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman Rank. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kadar procalcitonin dengan nilai NLR dengan nilai p value = 0,000 dan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,665 yang menunjukkan hubungan positif kuat. Kesimpulannya, semakin tinggi kadar procalcitonin maka semakin tinggi pula nilai NLR pada pasien sepsis. Kata kunci: Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio, Procalcitonin, Sepsis.
