Abstract
DESCRIPTION OF BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS WHEN ACTIVE SMOKERS IN EKASARI VILLAGE, MELAYA DISTRICT, JEMBRANA REGENCY Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia due to impaired insulin function. Smoking is a major risk factor, as nicotine induces insulin resistance and beta-cell dysfunction, increasing the likelihood of Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT) and progression to type 2 DM. This study aimed to describe random blood glucose levels among active smokers in Ekasari Village, Melaya District, Jembrana Regency. A descriptive observational method was conducted from January to April 2026 with 43 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Random blood glucose levels were measured using the Point of Care Testing (POCT) method. Results showed that most respondents were late elderly (27.9%), with the majority classified as heavy chronic smokers (83.7%). Based on smoking frequency, light smokers were the largest group (32.7%). Blood glucose examination revealed 7.0% low, 25.6% normal, and 67.4% high levels. High glucose levels were predominantly found among late elderly (20.9%), heavy chronic smokers (58.1%), and light smokers (27.9%). In conclusion, most active smokers had elevated random blood glucose levels, particularly those aged late elderly, with smoking duration over 15 years and daily consumption of 11–20 cigarettes. Keywords: GDS, active smokers GAMBARAN KADAR GLUKOSA DARAH SEWAKTU PADA PEROKOK AKTIF DI DESA EKASARI KECAMATAN MELAYA KABUPATEN JEMBRANA Diabetes Melitus (DM) adalah penyakit metabolik kronis dengan hiperglikemia akibat gangguan fungsi insulin. Merokok menjadi faktor risiko penting karena nikotin dapat memicu resistensi insulin dan disfungsi sel beta pankreas, sehingga meningkatkan kemungkinan terjadinya Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT) dan progresi menuju DM tipe 2. Penelitian ini bertujuan menggambarkan kadar glukosa darah sewaktu pada perokok aktif di Desa Ekasari, Kecamatan Melaya, Kabupaten Jembrana. Metode penelitian deskriptif observatif dilakukan pada bulan Januari–April 2026 dengan 43 responden dengan metode purposive sampling. Pemeriksaan kadar glukosa darah sewaktu menggunakan metode Point of Care Testing (POCT). Hasil menunjukkan sebagian besar responden berusia lansia akhir (27,9%), lama merokok kategori kronik berat (83,7%), dan jumlah rokok terbanyak kategori ringan (32,7%). Pemeriksaan glukosa darah sewaktu menunjukkan 7,0% rendah, 25,6% normal, dan 67,4% tinggi. Kadar glukosa tinggi paling banyak ditemukan pada lansia akhir (20,9%), perokok kronik berat (58,1%), serta perokok ringan (27,9%). Kesimpulan: mayoritas perokok aktif memiliki kadar glukosa darah sewaktu tinggi, terutama pada usia lanjut dengan riwayat merokok lebih dari 15 tahun dan konsumsi 11–20 batang per hari.
