Abstract

A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY ON URIC ACID LEVELS AMONG ELDERLY IN THE KEMONING VILLAGE, KLUNGKUNG ABSTRACT Background: Gout arthritis, also called inflammatory arthritis, is a degenerative disease that attacks the joints. Gout arthritis will especially increase in the elderly, because increasing age results in a decrease from the cellular level to all organ systems of the body, so that it will affect the function and ability of the body as a whole. Purpose: To determine the levels of uric acid in elderly in the Kemoning Village based on the characteristics of age, gender, high-purine food consumption habits, and alcohol consumption habits. Method: This study is a descriptive study which describes the levels of uric acid in the blood of elderly in the Kemoning Village. This study was conducted on 32 respondents aged ≥ 46 years. Respondents were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Results: The results showed that from 32 respondents, 20 respondents (62.5%) had high uric acid levels and 12 respondents (37.5%) had normal uric acid levels.Conclusion: Increased uric acid levels occurred in respondents in the elderly category (>65 years), male gender, who have high purine compsumtion with intake frequency >3x/week (often), and the elderly who never consumed alcohol beverages. Keywords: Uric acid, gout arthritis, the elderly GAMBARAN KADAR ASAM URAT PADA LANJUT USIA DI WILAYAH DESA ADAT KEMONING KABUPATEN KLUNGKUNG ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Asam urat disebut juga arthritis gout termasuk penyakit degeneratif yang menyerang persendian. Asam urat terutama akan meningkat pada masyarakat lanjut usia, karena bertambahnya usia mengakibatkan terjadinya penurunan dari tingkat sel sampai ke semua sistem organ tubuh, sehingga akan mempengaruhi fungsi dan kemampuan tubuh secara keseluruhan. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui gambaran kadar asam urat lanjut usia di wilayah Desa Adat Kemoning Kabupaten Klungkung berdasarkan karakteristik usia, jenis kelamin, kebiasaan konsumsi makanan tinggi purin, dan kebiasaan konsumsi alkohol. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif yang menggambarkan kadar asam urat darah pada lanjut usia di wilayah Desa Adat Kemoning Kabupaten Klungkung. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap 32 responden yang berusia ≥ 46 tahun. Responden dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari 32 responden didapatkan 20 responden (62,5%) memiliki kadar asam urat yang tinggi dan 12 responden (37,5%) memiliki kadar asam urat normal. Kesimpulan: Peningkatan kadar asam urat terjadi pada responden kategori usia masa manula (>65 tahun), jenis kelamin laki-laki, kebiasaan konsumsi makanan tinggi purin dengan frekuensi asupan >3x/minggu (sering), dan lansia yang tidak pernah mengonsumsi minuman beralkohol.
