Abstract
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), syphilis, and hepatitis B infect mothers and were transmitted to babies during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of labor in women giving birth with HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B at the Wangaya General Hospital. Type of research used was descriptive research with a cross sectional approach, using total sampling method. The results obtained indicated that of 45 patients with HIV who gave birth, as many as 39 patients (86,7%) delivered by caesarean section (CS), six patients (13.3%) gave birth normally. There were 27 patients (77.1%) with syphilis gave birth through normal delivery, seven patients (20%) by CS, and one patient (2.9%) by vacuum extraction. Patients with Hepatitis B who gave birth normally was in the amount of 27 patients (73%), seven patients (21.6%) delivered by CS, and two patients (5.4%) by vacuum extraction. One patient (100%) with syphilis and hepatitis B gave birth normally. The mode of delivery in women who gave birth with syphilis and HIV, as many as four patients (80%) by CS, and one patient (20%) by normal delivery. One patient (100%) with Hepatitis B and HIV delivered the baby by CS. The conclusion of this study was that all patient with HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B has delivered their babies according to the standard applied. It was suggested to do routine viral load check for mother with HIV during pregnancy to determine the right mode of delivery.
