Abstract
Dysmenorrhea is a disorder in the form of pain during menstruation that can interfere with daily activities. Lack of physical activity and consumption of nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids can be one of the factors causing dysmenorrhea. This study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity and consumption of omega-3 fatty acids with the level of dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls at SMP PGRI 8 Denpasar. This type of research is observational with a cross-sectional design. The sample size in the study was 62 students at SMP PGRI 8 Denpasar according to the inclusion criteria, namely registered as active students in classes VIII and IX at SMP PGRI 8 Denpasar, willing to be samples, or respondents, already menstruating, not sick, and aged 12-18. year. Data were collected by filling out the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) questionnaire and physical activity as well as interviews using the Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency (SQFFQ) form. Statistical analysis used is the Spearman rank test <0.05. The results showed that there were 32 samples (51.6%) had low activity and 30 samples (48.4%) had moderate activity. A total of 20 samples (32.3%) had a consumption of omega-3 fatty acids in the category of severe and moderate deficits and 34 samples (54.8%) had moderate dysmenorrhea. The results of statistical analysis showed that there was a relationship between physical activity and the level of dysmenorrhoea 0.002 (p < 0.05) and there was a relationship between consumption of omega-3 fatty acids and the level of dysmenorrhea 0.004 (p < 0.05). It is recommended for young women to do regular physical activity and consume enough omega-3 fatty acids to prevent dysmenorrhea. Keywords: dysmenorrhea; physical activity; consumption of omega-3 fatty acids
