Abstract
THE INHIBITORY TEST OF NYAMPLUNG OIL (Calophyllum inophyllum L.) IN VARIOUS CONSENTRATION AGAINST Propionibacterium acnes ABSTRACT Acne is a skin disease that occurs due to blockage of sebaceous follicles by Propionibacterium acnes. Some research shows that Nyamplung oil (calophyllum inophyllum L.) has an antibacterial effect against Propionibacterium acnes. This study was to know antibacterial effect of Nyamplung oil with various concentrations against Propionibacterium acne. Design of this study is true experimental post-test only control design with disc diffusion method, using concentrations of 55%, 70%, 85%, 100%, using ether dietile as negative control and 2μg clindamycin as positive control. Antibacterial effect is determined by the clear zone around the disc. Statistical analysis used is One Sample test T-Test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, One Way Anova, and Least Significant Deference. The average diameter of the clear zone produced by Nyamplung oil 55%, 70%, 85%, 100% is 13.1 mm, 14.8 mm, 15 mm, 15.5 mm. Based on One Sample T-Test result, it’s known that Nyamplung oil can inhibit Propionibacterium acnes. The One Way Anova and LSD tests found no significant differences in the range of concentrations. Nyamplung Oil with 100% concentration effective in inhibiting Propionibacterium acnes. Nyamplung oil can inhibit Propionibacterium acnes and has a strong inhibit level. There no significant differences in the range of concentrations and Nyamplung Oil with 100% concentration effective in inhibiting Propionibacterium acnes.
