Abstract
Pneumonia is an infection that occurs in the respiratory tract caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites or other microorganisms that can cause ineffective airway clearance. The purpose of writing this KIAN is to analyze ineffective airway clearance nursing care in patients with pneumonia in the Emergency Room of Sanjiwani Hospital, Gianyar. At the assessment stage, data obtained from both cases managed with the same causes of ineffective airway clearance, namely the patient experienced dyspnea, orthopnea, ineffective cough, unable to cough, excessive sputum, additional breath sounds, rhonchi, restlessness, decreased breath sounds, decreased breathing pattern, and the frequency of breath changes, and difficult to speak. Based on the assessment, the nursing diagnosis that appointed was ineffective airway clearance by providing interventions according to SIKI was airway management for 1x2 hours with chest physiotherapy: clapping. This scientific work used a descriptive method with case study data collection techniques which were carried out on April 12 to 30, 2021. The results of the evaluation of clapping in patients with ineffective airway clearance indicate that it can improve airway clearance. Provision of this action needs to be applied to improve airway clearance in ineffective patients. Keywords: Clapping, ineffective airway clearance, pneumonia
