Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest waste-producing countries in the world, in 2019 one of which is plastic waste, which is difficult to decompose, making plastic waste have a negative impact on the environment. One of them happened in Carangsari Village, where researchers took the initiative to design a plastic waste processing tool which is a Plastic Waste Melting Machine, which can produce paving blocks. So there is a need for research to determine the effectiveness of these machines to reduce the weight of plastic waste in the Carangsari Village Landfill Site. This research is an observational research with simple hypothesis testing (bivariate). Using an experimental study design (pre experimental design) using the type of the one group pretest posttest design (measurement before and after treatment). With a cross sectional subject approach model. The focus of attention in this study is the reduction of waste weight in the Carangsari Village Landfill Site. The results of the research that have been carried out are the effectiveness of the operation of the Plastic Waste Melting Machine (MPSP) to reduce waste in Carangsari Village Landfill Site, where the machine effectiveness ratio is 80,83% with a very effective level of achievement. Not only that, the machine can produce paving blocks and minimize the release of smokeduring the processing process.
