Abstract

Non-adherence to taking Fe tablets can lead to insufficient hemoglobin levels in the blood or anemia. WHO reports that the prevalence of pregnant women experiencing iron deficiency is around 35-75%. Vitamin C coupled with iron can reduce the risk of anemia. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between adherence to consumption of Fe and vitamin C in pregnant women. The research design used in this research is descriptive correlation and uses a cross-sectional approach. In this study, the compliance of pregnant women in consuming Fe and vitamin C tablets as independent variables and hemoglobin levels as the dependent variable. The population in this study were 49 people with the Slovin formula and the sampling technique was purposive sampling. Results: pregnant women with high levels of adherence in consuming Fe tablets (53%) and pregnant women had high adherence in consuming vitamin C (61.2%). Mothers with hemoglobin levels in the non-anemia category (67.3%) were more than pregnant women who were in the anemia category (32.7%). The results of the Chi-Square test showed that the relationship between compliance with Fe consumption and hemoglobin levels in pregnant women obtained p value = 0.001. In relation to compliance with vitamin C consumption with hemoglobin levels in pregnant women, it was obtained p value = 0.000. The conclusion is that there is a relationship between compliance with Fe and Vitamin C consumption with hemoglobin levels in pregnant women. Key words: level of compliance, Fe tablet, Vitamin C, hemoglobin level
