Abstract
Pneumonia is a lower respiratory tract infection which is a major problem in the health sector. Symptoms of pneumonia are chills, fever, headache, cough, phlegm, and shortness of breath. Populations that are susceptible to pneumonia are children aged less than two years, elderly people over 65 years and people who have health problems. Pneumonia that usually occurs is usually caused by viruses, fungi and microplasma. The purpose of this paper is to determine the ineffective airway clearance nursing care for Mr. I.W.P with pneumonia in the Mawar Room of the Karangasem General Hospital. The results of this paper show that in the study, data obtained from patients experiencing ineffective cough, additional breath sounds, sputum and difficulty expelling. The nursing problem taken was ineffective airway clearance. The intervention given to the patient was chest physiotherapy. Chest physiotherapy has been shown to be effective in clearing the airway in pneumonia patients who experience ineffective airway clearance. On evaluation, it was found that the patient was able to cough, was able to expel phlegm, decreased additional breath sounds, decreased sputum production, decreased dyspnea, decreased anxiety, improved respiratory rate.
