Abstract

Acute pain is identified as an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or functional tissue damage, of sudden or late onset and of mild to severe intensity lasting less than 3 months. The nursing problem that most oftenarises after modified radical mastectomy surgery is acute pain The purpose of this scientific work is to describe acute pain nursing care for clients with postoperative modified radical mastectomy carsinima mammae in Angsoka 2 Sanglah Hospital Denpasar. The method of writing this final scientific paper is a case study by doing nursing care for 3 days. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the main nursing diagnosis for this client was acute pain associated with a physical injury agent (surgical wound). Nursing interventions and implementations are given to reduce pain by teaching Benson relaxation techniques.Benson's relaxation technique is the development of a breathing relaxation method by involving the patient's self-confidence factor.Care is given for 3 days, twice a day, preferably after meals, for 10-15 minute. The results of the evaluation of nursing interventions that have been carried out with pain management are obtained from a pain scale of 5 to a pain scale of 2. It is hoped that the Benson relaxation technique and delegative action can be applied in the ward as a form of intervention to reduce pain levels.
