Abstract
DESCRIPTIONOF LIFE MEANING IN PATIENTWITH CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE IN HEMODIALYSISAT THEWANGAYA REGIONAL GENERAL HOSPITALDENPASAR CITY IN 2021 ABSTRACT Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a global public health problem with increasing prevalence, incidence and mortality every year. Patients with CKD require hemodialysis to survive. During hemodialysis, the perceived physical, financial and social suffering will cause psychological problems, including the patient feels that his life is in misfortune, has no hope, and feels meaningless. This study aims to determine the meaning of life of patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. This study uses a descriptive type of research with a quantitative design. This research was conducted at Wangaya Hospital, Denpasar City with a sample of 43 research subjects. Sampling used a non-probability type, namely consecutive sampling. The instrument used was the MLQ (Meaning in Life Questionnare) questionnaire. The results showed that of the 43 subjects studied, the majority were female as many as 23 people (53.5%), working as civil servants as many as 11 people (25.6%), only undergoing hemodialysis (<12 months) as many as 19 people (44, 2%), obedient to worship as many as 42 people (97.7%), and subjects who have a harmonious family relationship as many as 41 people (95.3%). The conclusion of this study is that the meaningfulness of life of patients with CKD undergoing hemodialysis is in the moderate category, namely, as many as 24 people (55.8%). It is hoped that health workers will not only focus on physiological conditions, but also pay attention to the psychological conditions of patients.
