Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency Relationship In The First Trimester Pregnant Women With Low Birth Weight Baby Incidence At Pecatu Community Health Centre In 2020. Pregnancy is an important moment that most married couples have been waiting for. One of the important factors in pregnancy is the mother's nutritional status because it affects the growth of the fetus in the womb. The nutritional status of pregnant women requires special attention to prevent Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED). CED is a condition in which a person experiences a poor nutritional status due to a lack of consumption of energy sources containing macro nutrients. CED in adults is determined by anthropometric measurements utilizing a simple tool using the Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) and Body Mass Index (BMI) measuring tape. CED in pregnant women can cause abortion, stillbirth, neonatal death, congenital defects, anemia in infants, intrapartum asphyxia, born with LBW (Lace Birth Weight Babies). LBW is a significant public health problem because it can cause a risk of death, as well as impaired growth and development of children. LBW data at Pecatu Community Health Centres in 2020 amounted to 6.9% of the total live births and the prevalence of CED cases was 17.100% which above the prevalence of CED in Bali Province. This figure is certainly very large and has the potential to be examined whether or not there is a relationship between CED and the incidence of LBW at Pecatu Community Health Centre in 2020. This research result there is significant corelation between CED and LBW. For that, we need to put more attention on pregnant mother’s MUAC because pregnant mother that is not CED could deliver LBW baby. We have to arrange reproductive health program for prospect couple, do more CED early detection, strictly monitor the CED intervension, integrate teenagers’ health care and provide counselings to schools about nutritional status to prevent CED.
