Abstract
Brushing teeth is the act of cleaning teeth and mouth from food debris to prevent diseases of both hard and soft tissue. One of the factors causing dental health problems is the level of knowledge. Pregnant women are a vulnerable group who become priority targets in dental and oral health care services. This study aims to determine the knowledge of pregnant women about brushing their teeth in the Gianyar Regency in 2021. This research is a descriptive study with 45 respondents of pregnant women and data collection using a questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that the most frequent knowledge of pregnant women is in a good category as many as 22 people (48.9%). The frequency with the highest knowledge based on education level was 16 people (69.60%) with good categories at the higher education level. The frequency based on the trimester of pregnancy with the highest knowledge was 7 people (70.00%) with sufficient category in the second trimester. The average knowledge of pregnant women was 75.04, which was categorized as sufficient. Based on the level of education - the highest average score is 80.40 with the good category highly educated. Based on the pregnancy trimester, the highest average value was 77.70 with the third trimester of pregnancy in the good category. The conclusion from the results of this study is that the knowledge of pregnant women about brushing their teeth in Gianyar Regency in 2021 is in a good category.
