Abstract
The child's physical, emotional, mental, and social development is the hope of all parents. This expectation cannot be fulfilled if the child experiences developmental disorders, one of which is autism. Late intervention in children with symptoms of autism will cause a failure of social development and communication during adulthood. Objective: to analyze the determinants of parenting in children with autism in Denpasar City. Design: mixed methods sequential exploratory model. Sample: parents (mothers / fathers) of children with autism at autism service providers in Denpasar City in 2018/2019 who met the study inclusion criteria. Sampling technique: cluster random sampling. The first stage of data analysis through the stages of transcription, reduction, coding, categorization and theme discovery. The second analysis with Chi Square. Results: there is a relationship between parental knowledge and parenting of autistic children (p = 0.001), there is a relationship between perception with autistic parenting (p = 0.005), there is a relationship between social support and parenting of autistic children (p = 0,000). Conclusion: There is a relationship between parental knowledge and parenting of autistic children, there is a relationship between perception with autistic parenting, there is a relationship between social support and parenting of autistic children. Suggestion: an autistic education institution develops an autistic children education program, the health department develops policies related to handling autistic children Keywords: Social Support, Knowledge, Perception, Parenting, Autism
