Abstract

The most common dental illnesses are dental caries and periodontal disease, due to their high frequency and incidence in all places around the world. The first permanent molar teeth are susceptible to caries because of their anatomical forms which are ideal for the growth of caries-causing bacteria. This study aims to determine the caries description of permanent first molar teeth in class V students at Kesiman 10 Elementary School in 2018. This type of research is a descriptive research with survey design. This research was conducted at SD Kesiman 10 in June 2018 with 84 respondents. The results of the study showed that the frequency of students experiencing caries in permanent first molars was 44 people (52.3%), the frequency of permanent first molars with caries was 64 teeth (19%), the average permanent first molars with caries were 0.76, and permanent first molars which often experience caries are found on the right lower right first molars of 26 teeth (40.6%). The conclusions of this study are the frequency of students who suffer from caries is quite low. To the school in order to plan counseling about the health of teeth and mouth, cavities and how to prevent them in students at SDN Kesiman 10
