Abstract

RELATIONSHIP OF DIABETES SELF EFFICACY AND SELF-CARE MANAGEMENT WITH GLYCEMIC CONTROL IN PATIENTS OF DIABETES MELITUS TYPE 2 ABSTRACT Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus, also known as insulin dependent DM, is caused by a decrease in the sensitivity of the target tissue to the metabolic effects of insulin which is often referred to as insulin resistance. The prevalence of diabetes in the world from year to year tends to increase. The complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus tend to increase and get worse due to the inability of the patient to manage the disease independently. Self care or self care is one of diabetes mellitus self management and need to get adequate glycemic control. Self care done by a person or community is based on knowledge, attitude, self efficacy / self belief, tradition, and so on from the person or community concerned. Increased self efficacy in patients with DM will encourage patients to maintain the behavior needed in self care or self care of patients such as diet, medication, and other DM care. Method: Using three databases (pubmed, google scholar and science direct) that were sought from 2014 to 2019 in the form of research reports and reviews that discussed self efficacy, self care and glycemic control in type 2 DM patients. The keywords used were, self efficacy, self care, glycemic control, and type 2 diabetes. Articles are selected based on title and abstract information. From the keywords above and after being selected, 11 journals were obtained which were in accordance with the discussion of self efficacy and self care with glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to explain the relationship between diabetes self efficacy and self care management with glycemic control of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Results: Self efficacy and self care have a significant relationship with glycemic control of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Someone who has high self efficacy self achieves health, then that person will try to resolve the problem and will encourage the individual in improving self-care behavior and better glycemic control. Conclusion: A review of this literature review shows that there is a relationship between self efficacy and self care with glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Keywords: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, self efficacy, self care, glycemic control HUBUNGAN DIABETES SELF EFFICACY DAN SELF-CARE MANAGEMENT DENGAN KONTROL GLIKEMIK PADA PASIEN DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 ABSTRAK Latar belakang: Diabetes melitus tipe 2 disebut juga dengan DM tidak tergantung insulin yang disebabkan oleh penurunan sensitivitas jaringan target terhadap efek metabolik insulin yang sering disebut sebagai resistensi insulin. Prevalensi diabetes di dunia dari tahun ke tahun cenderung meningkat. Komplikasi penderita diabetes melitus tipe 2 ini cenderung meningkat dan semakin memburuk disebabkan karena ketidakmampuan penderita dalam mengelola penyakitnya secara mandiri. Perawatan diri atau self care adalah salah satu manajemen diri diabetes mellitus dan perlu untuk mendapatkan kontrol glikemik yang memadai. Self care yang dilakukan seseorang atau masyarakat didasari oleh pengetahuan, sikap, self efficacy/ keyakinan diri, tradisi, dan sebagainya dari orang atau masyarakat yang bersangkutan. Meningkatnya self-efficacy pada penderita DM akan mendorong pasien untuk mempertahankan perilaku yang dibutuhkan dalam perawatan diri atau self care pasien seperti diet, medikasi, dan perawatan DM lainnya. Tujuan: Tujuan dari makalah ini adalah untuk menjelaskan hubungan antara efikasi diri diabetes dan manajemen perawatan diri dengan kontrol glikemik pasien diabetes mellitus tipe 2. Metode: Menggunakan tiga database (pubmed, google scholar dan science direct) yang dicari pada mulai tahun 2014 sampai 2019 berupa laporan hasil penelitian dan review yang membahas self efficacy, self care dan kontrol glikemik pada pasien DM tipe 2. Keyword yang digunakan adalah, self efficacy, self care, glycemic control, dan type 2 diabetes. Artikel diseleksi berdasarkan judul dan informasi abstrak. Dari keyword diatas dan setelah diseleksi didapatkan 11 jurnal yang sesuai dengan pembahasan self efficacy dan self care dengan kontrol glikemik pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2. Hasil: Self efficacy dan self care memiliki hubungan signifikan dengan kontrol glikemik pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2. Seseorang yang memiliki self efficacy yang tinggi dirinya berhasil mencapai kesehatan, maka orang tersebut akan berusaha untuk menyelesaikan masalah dan akan mendorong individu tersebut dalam peningkatan perilaku perawatan diri dan kontrol glikemik yang lebih baik. Kesimpulan: Telaah literature review ini menunjukan bahwa ada hubungan antara self efficacy dan self care dengan kontrol glikemik pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe 2.
