Abstract

Dyslipidemia often accompanies DM disease. In type 2 DM metabolic abnormalities occur because insulin resistance affects the metabolism in the body including changes in the production process and the removal of plasma lipoproteins. In the fat tissue there is a decrease in the effect of insulin so that lipogenesis is reduced and lipolysis is increased. This will trigger glucotoxicity accompanied by lipotoxicity which causes an increase in LDL cholesterol levels. This study aims to describe the levels of Low Density Lipoprotein in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This type of research is descriptive with data collection techniques using secondary data obtained from Scientific Papers of LDL Cholesterol Levels in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients (Case Study at Mojoagung Health Center in Jombang) with a sample size of 15 respondents. The results were obtained based on characteristics, most respondents were aged 50-65 years (46.7%), female sex (66.7%), long suffered from type 2 DM for 6-8 years (46.7%), and rarely exercise (46.7%). Most LDL levels were found with very high criteria (33.3%). It can be concluded that the most high LDL levels come from respondents aged 50-65 years, female sex, length of type 2 DM for 6-8 years and ≥8 years, and rarely exercise. Keywords: Type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, LDL
