Abstract

The market has become one of the potential places in the spread of all diseases so it is necessary to supervise market sanitation. One form of market sanitation supervision is by measuring the density of flies and by controlling the flies. Alternative efforts to reduce the impact of diseases caused by flies can use natural ingredients such as cloves, basil and pandanus. The purpose of the study was to analyze the effectiveness of cloves, basil and pandanus as natural insecticides, reducing the density of flies in tuna. Type of pre-experimental research with one group pretest-posttest design. Data analysis techniques used were Paired t Test and Mann-Whitney Test. The results of this study showed no significant difference between the average use of cloves, basil and pandanus. The average number of flies in cloves was 2.2 at basil 1.4 and at pandanus 2.4. The statistical test results applied in this study were obtained p value 0.749 0.056 and 0.178 (p> 0.05) which proved that clove, basil and pandanus had the same effectiveness to reduce fly density. The government must pay attention to the use of natural materials that are environmentally friendly, so that fish is safe for public consumption. Keywords: fly density, clove, basil, pandanus
