Abstract

Home sanitation and unsupportive mother behavior can cause a high incidence of diarrhea. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between home sanitation and maternal behavior with the incidence of diarrhea in. This research method uses Case Control design. The subjects of this study were housewives who have toddlers and had suffered from diarrhea in 2019. Sample selection with simple random sampling produced a sample of 118 people. Test statistics using Chi Square with the help of computer software. The results showed that there was a relationship between maternal behavior (p = 0,000), use of latrines (p = 0.010), use of rubbish bins (p = 0.025), hand washing with soap (p = 0.027) and no relationship between home sanitation (p = 0.843) and the incidence of diarrhea. The conclusion, the use of latrines, the use of trash cans and washing hands with healthy soap will improve the condition of children to avoid diarrheal diseases and home sanitation is not directly related to the incidence of diarrhea in infants. The community is expected to always maintain the state of sanitation in their homes and behave in a healthy manner and for health center staff to increase public education
