Abstract

Background:Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a pathogenic bacteria that can cause nosocomial infections. White guava leaves have antibacterial compounds such as tannins, flavonoids, alkaloids, steroids, and saponins. Objective:This study aims to determine the inhibitory of guava leaf extract at various concentrations on the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Method:This study was a pure experiment with Posttest only control design, using Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method at four concentrations (20%, 40%, 60%, 80%) negative control (96% ethanol) and antibiotic ciprofloxaxin as positive control. Result:The results showed that the average inhibitory zone diameter with the category of inhibitory respectively from the lowest concentration of 18.3 mm (strong inhibition), 21.0 mm (very strong inhibition), 21.8 mm (very strong inhibition) and 23.6 mm (very strong inhibitory power). Conclution:The One Way Anova statistical test shows that the p value is 0.000 so that the white guava leaf extract (Psidium guajava) at various concentrations has different inhibitory zones. Keywords: white guava leaf extract; Pseudomonas aeruginosa;inhibition zone Latar belakang:Pseudomonas aeruginosa merupakan bakteri patogen yang dapat menyebabkan infeksi nosokomial. Daun jambu biji putih memiliki senyawa antibakteri seperti tanin, flavonoid, alkaloid, steroid, polifenol, kuinon, dan saponin.Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya hambat ekstrak daun jambu biji putih pada berbagai konsentrasi terhadap pertumbuhan Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Metode:Penelitian ini merupakan eksperimen murni dengan desain penelitian Posttest only control design, menggunakan metode difusi cakram Kirby-Bauer pada empat konsentrasi (20%, 40%, 60%, dan 80%) dan kontrol (etanol 96%). Hasil:Hasil penelitian menunjukan rerata diameter zona hambat dengan kategori daya hambat berturut-turut dari konsentrasi terendah yaitu 18,3 mm (daya hambat kuat), 21,0 mm (daya hambat sangat kuat), 21,8 mm(daya hambat sangat kuat), dan 23,6 mm (daya hambat sangat kuat).Simpulan: Uji statistik One Way Anova menunjukan bahwa nilai p adalah 0,000 sehingga ekstrak daun jambu biji putih (Psidium guajava) pada berbagai konsentrasi memiliki perbedaan zona hambat.
