Abstract
People nowadays use formalin to preserve food. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between merchant knowledge level and analysis of formalin content in foodstuff traders. This research is an analytical survey research with observational method with croos sectional approach. The population in this study amounted to 40 and a sample of 20 traders, the sampling technique was determined or selected based on the decision of the South Kuta Health Center staff from the consideration of the traders being in the place with the highest level of buyers, and these traders selling food which generally can be given formaldehyde content such as : tofu, meat and noodles, measurement of knowledge using questionnaires and measurement of formaldehyde content carried out in the laboratory. The analysis used is bivariate and univariate analysis. In terms of the Knowledge category the measurement results obtained are at 6 (30%), from the good knowledge category the results are obtained at 14 (70%). Based on the examination of 20 traders there were 8 (60%) traders who were formalin positive. The conclusion of measuring the relationship between the level of knowledge and formalin analysis that is the level of knowledge (moderate) obtained positive results 2 (33%). As for knowledge (good) positive food results obtained at 6 (42%). And the pvelue value of 0.545> 0.05 where the value proves the variables of knowledge and formalin analysis are not related. Advice to the public to be more careful in choosing and consuming food bought on the market.
