Abstract
Gum disease affects nearly every person and its prevalence in children is more than 80 %. Inflammation of the gums called gingivitis disease has the highest prevalence of the disease among other supporting tissue of the teeth, and therefore requires special attention of the sufferer from becoming more severe. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of the mouth rinsing using water boiled of mangosteen rind after oral physiotherapy to cure gingivitis. This research was experimental study with a pre post test control group design. The population of this study was all students in SMP Kertha Mas, Ubud District, who suffering from gingivitis. Sample was determined by simple random sampling with a sample size for each treatment group and control as many as 16 people. Data was collected and then analyzed statistically with the Wilcoxon test, and then the Chi square test.The result of Wilcoxon test shown that both the mangosteen rind boiled water and 1 % povidone iodine to cure gingivitisare significant with p = 0.000 or p < 0.05. Chi Square test result shown that the mangosteen rind boiled water effective to cure gingivitis significantly with p = 0.003 or P <0.05. Keywords : Water boiled mangosteen rind, gingivitis cured.
