Abstract

Abstract. Obesity is a public health problem in almost all the world in both developed and developing countries. The prevalence of obesity continues to increase every year. Asia has top rank in the largest number for the prevalence of overweight schoolage children in developing countries, with more than 60%. Government losses human resources due to obesity is because of the impact that trigger the emergence of noncommunicable diseases such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and so forth. It needs necessary efforts to address obesity involving various aspects of life. It also can reduce the burden of government as a result of the epidemiological transition. Several obesity prevention and control policies can be designed based on the experiences of other countries that have developed policies and programs. Policies related to obesity prevention efforts need to be done in a holistic manner by involving the family and the school. This program also requires policy support from the health sector (health office to the health center level), education sector (Department of Education and Sports, schools) as well as across relevant sectors (public works, planology, licensing)
