Abstract
ABSTRACT: Optimal child development would be achieved if appropriate stimulation is given by parents for every developmental stage. The purpose of this study is to know the correlation between stimulation given by parents and children development. Research was used cross sectional design. Sample was fifty couple consists of parents and their three to six month-old children at Puskesmas. Sample was collected by accidental sampling and chosen based on eligibility criteria. Data was collected by questionnaire and KPSP sheets. Correlational analysis was used Fisher Exact Test. Data analysis showed 70% parents gave adequate stimulation on their children while 30% parents gave sufficient stimulation. Evaluation of child development from KPSP sheets pointed out 88% children had appropriate age-developmental stage development, whereas 12% were in doubt. Correlational analysis showed 97,14% children with appropriate development had adequate stimulation and 2,85% of them were in doubt (p = 0.007; 95%CI), while 66,66% children with appropriate development had sufficient stimulation and 33,33% of them were in doubt (p = 0.007; 95%CI). The Results showed that child development would be better if better stimulation is given. It’s suggested that the program holder at Puskesmas should take a part to socialize the importance of stimulation for children development. Keywords: Stimulation; Parents; Children developments
