Abstract

ABSTRACT Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the agents that can cause an acute respiratory infections in human. Klebsiella pneumoniae becomes very resistant to antibiotics, so exploration of natural materials is needed which is can be used as natural antibacterial agents, one of that is Muntingia calabura L. leaf. The aim of this research is to determine the antibacterial activity of Muntingia calabura L. leaf ethanol extract at various concentration against Klebsiella pneumoniae growth. This study including purely experimental study used post test only control group design. Etanol 96% is used as a negative control and variation in concentration was carried out at a concentration of 10%, 20%, 40%, and 80%. The results showed that the average of the inhibition zone diameter on ethanol extract of Muntingia calabura L. leaf with a concentration of 10% was 9mm, concentration of 20% was 11.1mm, concentration of 40% was 16.8mm, and concentration of 80% was 19.9mm. In the One Way Anova test, it was found that there were a difference in the diameter of the inhibition zone againts Klebsiella pneumoniae growth at various extract concentrations. In the Least Significant Difference test, it was found that there were significant difference in inhibition zone in each extract concentration. Ethanol extract of Muntingia calabura L. leaves has moderate antibacterial activity at a concentration of 10%, strong antibacterial activity at concentration of 20%, 40%, and 80%, at various concentrations there are differences in the diameter of inhibitory zone against Klebsiella pneumoniae. The higher the concentration of exstract, the greater the diameter of the inhibition zone. Bakteri ini menjadi sangat resisten terhadap antibiotik, sehingga diperlukan eksplorasi mengenai bahan alam yang dapat digunakan sebagai agen antibakteri alami, salah satunya daun kersen. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri konsentrasi ekstrak etanol daun kersen terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Klebsiella pneumoniae. Penelitian ini adalah eksperimen murni posttest only control group design. Etanol 96% digunakan sebagai kontrol negatif dan variasi konsentrasi yang dilakukan pada konsentrasi 10%, 20%, 40%, dan 80%. Hasil penelitian diperoleh rerata diameter zona hambat ekstrak etanol daun kersen konsentrasi 10% yaitu 9mm, konsentrasi 20% yaitu 11,1mm, konsentrasi 40% yaitu 16,8mm, dan konsentrasi 80% yaitu 19,9mm. Dalam uji One Way Anova diperoleh hasil terdapat perbedaan diameter zona hambat pertumbuhan Klebsiella pneumoniae pada berbagai konsentrasi ekstrak. Dalam uji Least Significant Difference, diperoleh hasil ada perbedaan zona hambat yang bermakna pada masing-masing konsentrasi ekstrak. Ekstrak etanol daun kersen memiliki aktivitas antibakteri yang sedang pada konsentrasi 10%, kuat pada konsentrasi 20%, 40%, dan 80%, pada berbagai konsentrasi ini terdapat perbedaan diameter zona hambat terhadap bakteri Klebsiella pneumoniae.
