Abstract
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ECONOMIC STATUS AND SELF MANAGEMENT BEHAVIOR IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS AT PUSKESMAS UBUD II ABSTRACT Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic disease that requires effective self management behavior to control blood glucose levels and prevent complications. One factor that is presumed to be associated with self-management behavior is economic status. This study aimed to determine the relationship between economic status and self-management behavior among patients with T2DM at Ubud II Community Health Center. This study employed a quantitative non-experimental design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 54 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Economic status was measured using the Economic Status Questionnaire, while self-management behavior was assessed using the Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire (DSMQ). Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed that most respondents had a moderate economic status (59,3%) and high self-management behavior (75.9%). The Spearman Rank test revealed a p-value of < 0.001 and a correlation coefficient of r = 0.467, indicating a significant positive relationship with moderate strength between economic status and self-management behavior among patients with T2DM. It can be concluded that higher economic status is associated with better self-management behavior in managing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Keywords: type 2 diabetes mellitus, economic status, self management HUBUNGAN STATUS EKONOMI DENGAN PERILAKU MANAJEMEN DIRI PADA PASIEN DM TIPE 2 DI PUSKESMAS UBUD II ABSTRAK Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 (DMT2) merupakan penyakit kronis yang memerlukan perilaku manajemen diri yang baik untuk mengendalikan kadar glukosa darah dan mencegah komplikasi. Salah satu faktor yang diduga berhubungan dengan perilaku manajemen diri adalah status ekonomi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan status ekonomi dengan perilaku manajemen diri pada pasien DMT2 di Puskesmas Ubud II. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuantitatif noneksperimental dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 54 responden yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Status ekonomi diukur menggunakan Kuesioner Status Ekonomi dan perilaku manajemen diri menggunakan Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire (DSMQ). Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Spearman Rank. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebagian besar responden memiliki status ekonomi sedang (59,3%) dan perilaku manajemen diri tinggi (75,9%). Hasil uji Spearman Rank menunjukkan nilai p < 0,001 dan koefisien korelasi r = 0,467, yang berarti terdapat hubungan signifikan dengan kekuatan sedang dan arah positif antara status ekonomi dan perilaku manajemen diri pada pasien DMT2. Semakin tinggi status ekonomi pasien, semakin baik perilaku manajemen dirinya dalam mengelola penyakit diabetes melitus tipe 2. Kata kunci: diabetes melitus tipe 2, status ekonomi, manajemen diri
