Abstract

DESCRIPTION OF THE LEUKOCYTE COUNT IN POSTCHEMOTHERAPY BREAST CANCER PATIENTS AT BALI MANDARA REGIONAL GENERAL HOSPITAL ABSTRACT Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of death among women worldwide, characterized by uncontrolled cell growth in breast tissue. Chemotherapy in breast cancer patients can cause myelosuppression leading to leukopenia. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of the leukocyte count in post-chemotherapy breast cancer patients at Bali Mandara Regional General Hospital. This study used a quantitative descriptive design with a non-probability total sampling technique. The sample consisted of 165 breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, obtained from data retrieval and recording from the electronic medical record system and meeting the inclusion criteria. The results showed that most post-chemotherapy breast cancer patients had low leukocyte counts, total of 115 people (69,7%), followed by normal leukocyte counts in 50 people (30,3%), and no respondents were found to have high leukocyte counts. Based on respondents characteristics, low leukocyte counts were most commonly found in the 45 – 59 age group with 72 people (43,6%), in the invasive carcinoma of no special type (NST) group with 88 people (53,3%), and in grade II namely 60 people (36,4%). In conclusion, the leukocyte count in postchemotherapy breast cancer patients at Bali Mandara Regional General Hospital is considered low. Keywords: breast cancer, chemotherapy, leukocyte count. GAMBARAN JUMLAH LEUKOSIT PADA PASIEN KANKER PAYUDARA PASCA KEMOTERAPI DI RSUD BALI MANDARA ABSTRAK Kanker payudara merupakan jenis kanker yang paling sering terdiagnosis dan menjadi penyebab kematian tertinggi pada perempuan di dunia yang ditandai dengan pertumbuhan sel yang tidak terkontrol pada jaringan payudara. Kemoterapi pada pasien kanker payudara dapat menyebabkan mielosupresi yang dapat menimbulkan leukopenia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran jumlah leukosit pada pasien kanker payudara pasca kemoterapi di RSUD Bali Mandara. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan teknik non-probability secara total sampling. Sampel yang digunakan berjumlah 165 pasien kanker payudara yang menjalani kemoterapi yang diperoleh dari penelusuran dan pencatatan data pada sistem elektronik rekam medis dan telah memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan jumlah leukosit pada pasien kanker payudara pasca kemoterapi sebagian besar rendah yaitu 115 orang (69,7%), diikuti dengan jumlah leukosit normal yaitu 50 orang (30,3%), dan tidak ditemukan responden dengan jumlah leukosit tinggi. Berdasarkan karakteristik responden, ditemukan jumlah leukosit rendah paling banyak pada kelompok usia 45 – 59 tahun yaitu 72 orang (43,6%), pada tipe invasive carcinoma of no special type (NST) yaitu 88 orang (53,3%), dan dengan grade II yaitu 60 orang (36,4%). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa jumlah leukosit pada pasien kanker payudara pasca kemoterapi di RSUD Bali Mandara dikategorikan rendah. Kata kunci : kanker payudara, kemoterapi, jumlah leukosit
