Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TOTAL CHOLESTEROL LEVELS AND DEGREE OF HYPERTENSION IN HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS AT UPTD PUSKESMAS BANGLI ABSTRAC Background: Hypertension is recorded as the non-communicable disease with the highest prevalence in Indonesia. Total cholesterol level is a risk factor for hypertension, but studies on the association between total cholesterol and hypertension remain inconsistent across populations. This study aims to determine the relationship between total cholesterol levels and the degree of hypertension among hypertensive patients at UPTD Puskesmas Bangli. Methods: This research is a cross-sectional study conducted at UPTD Puskesmas Bangli in September– October 2025. The independent variable was total cholesterol level measured using the POCT method, while the dependent variable was the degree of hypertension measured using the sphygmomanometry method. The study sample consisted of 60 hypertensive patients selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: Among patients with normal total cholesterol levels, most experienced grade 1 hypertension (18 people; 75.0%). Among those with borderline cholesterol levels, most also experienced grade 1 hypertension (11 people; 52.4%). Meanwhile, high total cholesterol levels were more commonly found in patients with grade 2 hypertension (12 people; 80.0%). Data analysis showed a p-value of 0.004, indicating p < 0.05. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between total cholesterol levels and the degree of hypertension among hypertensive patients at UPTD Puskesmas Bangli. Keywords: total cholesterol level, degree of hypertension ix HUBUNGAN KADAR KOLESTEROL TOTAL DENGAN DERAJAT HIPERTENSI PADA PASIEN HIPERTENSI DI UPTD PUSKESMAS BANGLI ABSTRAK Latar Belakang: Hipertensi tercatat sebagai penyakit tidak menular dengan angka prevalensi tertinggi di Indonesia. Kadar kolesterol total merupakan faktor risiko hipertensi namun penelitian mengenai hubungan kadar kolesterol total dengan hipertensi belum sepenuhnya konsisten di berbagai populasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan kadar kolesterol total dengan derajat hipertensi pada pasien hipertensi di UPTD Puskesmas Bangli. Metode: Penelitin ini merupakan penelitian cross sectional yang dilakukan di UPTD Puskesmas Bangli pada bulan September-Oktober 2025. Variabel bebas adalah kadar kolesterol total yang yang diukur dengan metode POCT, sedangkan variabel terikat adalah derajat hipertensi yang diukur dengan metode Sfigmomanometri. Sampel penelitian adalah 60 orang pasien hipertensi yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Analisis data menggunakan uji chi-square. Hasil: pasien hipertensi dengan kategori kadar kolesterol total normal sebagian besar mengalami hipertensi derajat 1 sebanyak 18 orang (75,0%), kemudian kadar kolesterol total ambang batas sebagian besar mengalami hipertensi derajat 1 sebanyak 11 orang (52,4%), dan kadar kolesterol total tinggi lebih banyak dialami oleh pasien hipertensi derajat 2 sebanyak 12 orang (80,0%). Analisis data mendapatkan hasil p-value = 0,004 yang berarti p < 0,05. Kesimpulan: terdapat hubungan antara kadar kolesterol total dengan derajat hipertensi pada pasien hipertensi di UPTD Puskesmas Bangli. Kata kunci: kadar kolesterol total, derajat hipertensi
