Abstract
DIFFERENCES IN HANDWASHING SKILLS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD BEFORE AND AFTER AUDITORY MEDIA EDUCATION ABSTRACT Diarrhea is one of the most common diseases in early childhood and can lead to death. One of the causes of diarrhea is the lack of clean and healthy living behaviors, particularly in handwashing practices. Proper handwashing plays a crucial role in preventing bacterial infections that cause diarrhea. Therefore, handwashing education should be introduced from an early age, one method being through auditory media in schools. This study examines handwashing skills in early childhood after receiving handwashing education through auditory media. The research used a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 35 children selected using purposive sampling. Handwashing skills were assessed using a six-step handwashing checklist that had been validated. The auditory media education was delivered for 10 minutes in the classroom. Bivariate analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test with α < 0.05. The results showed a difference in handwashing skills before and after auditory media education. The median score before education was 5.31, which increased to 11.09 after the education. The Wilcoxon test showed a ρ-value of 0.00 < α (0.05) and a Z-value of -5.187. In conclusion, there was a significant difference in handwashing skills among early childhood children before and after receiving auditory media education, reflected in an improvement in proper handwashing skills. Keywords: Early Childhood; Diarrhea; Handwashing; Auditory Media; Kindergarten PERBEDAAN KETERAMPILAN MENCUCI TANGAN PADA ANAK USIA DINI SEBELUM DAN SESUDAH DIBERIKAN EDUKASI MEDIA AUDIKTIF ABSTRAK Diare merupakan salah satu penyakit yang sering terjadi pada anak usia dini dan dapat menyebabkan kematian. Salah satu penyebab diare adalah kurangnya perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat, khususnya dalam mencuci tangan. Mencuci tangan dengan benar berperan penting dalam mencegah infeksi bakteri penyebab diare. Oleh karena itu, edukasi mencuci tangan perlu diberikan sejak dini, salah satunya melalui media audiktif di sekolah Penelitian ini menguji keterampilan mencuci tangan pada anak usia dini setelah diberikan edukasi cuci tangan melalui media audiktif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre-eksperimental dengan rancangan one group pretest-posttest design. Sampel berjumlah 35 anak yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Keterampilan mencuci tangan dinilai menggunakan ceklist enam langkah mencuci tangan yang telah diuji validitasnya. Edukasi media audiktif diberikan selama 10 menit di ruang kelas. Analisis bivariat dilakukan menggunakan uji Wilcoxon dengan α<0,05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan keterampilan mencuci tangan sebelum dan sesudah edukasi media audiktif. Nilai median sebelum edukasi adalah 5,31, meningkat menjadi 11,09 setelah edukasi. Hasil uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan nilai ρ 0,00 < α (0,05) dan nilai Z sebesar -5,187. Kesimpulannya, terdapat perbedaan bermakna dalam keterampilan mencuci tangan anak usia dini sebelum dan sesudah diberikan edukasi media audiktif, yaitu berupa peningkatan keterampilan mencuci tangan yang baik dan benar.
