Abstract
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HEALTHCARE WORKERS' KNOWLEDGE AND THE PRACTICE OF SOLID MEDICAL WASTE SEGREGATION AT DR. R. SOEDJONO HOSPITAL SELONG ABSTRACT Improperly managed solid medical waste can pose serious health risks and environmental pollution. Waste segregation by healthcare workers is highly dependent on their level of knowledge. This study aims to examine the relationship between healthcare workers' knowledge and the practice of solid medical waste segregation at Dr. R. Soedjono General Hospital Selong. A quantitative method with a cross-sectional design was employed, involving 50 respondents selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 35 respondents (70%) had a high level of knowledge, and 29 respondents (58%) demonstrated good waste segregation practices. It can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and practice (p = 0.011). It is recommended that the hospital provide regular training and enhance supervision to ensure proper waste segregation procedures are followed.
