Comparative analytical study with cross sectional approach and purposive sampling, was conducted on 104 respondents exclusively breastfeeding and not breastfeeding. Variable intrinsic motivations, extrinsic motivations were measured using a questionnaire with a Likert scale of 1-5. Statistical tests using independent t-test unpaired group test followed by multiple logistic regression analysis. The results of this study noted that the intrinsic moti- vation of respondents exclusively breastfeeding and not exclusively breasfeeding was 76.77 versus 68.77 (p value d” 0.001). Extrinsic motivation respondents exclusively breastfeeding and not exclusively breasfeeding was 75.25 versus 67.13 (p value d” 0.001). Multiple logistic regression analysis showed support for health workers affect the status of breastfeeding mothers with 13.369 Wald coefficient This study concludes that intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation of respondents exclusively breastfeed higher than the respondents are not exclusive breastfeeding and the support of health professionals are a major factor in encouraging mothers to breastfeed exclusively. Need to be investigated other factors that encourage mothers to gave exclusive breastfeeding. Keywords: intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, breastfeeding, breast milk
